About Rahul Deshpande

Rahul Deshpande is the grandson of the stalwert classical singer late Pandit Vasantrao Deshpande.Rahul studied Pandit Kumar Gandharva’s music while developing interest in vocal music. He brilliantly carries Kumarji’s legacy of presenting Nirguni Bhajans in the conventional form of classical music.Rahul also learned playing tabla from Pandit Suresh Kumar Samant.

Rahul enthralls the audience as a creative performer by presenting Khayal, Thumri, Dadra, Bhajans, Natyasangeet, ghazals and Bhavgeet along with classical ragas.His performance in the musical play “Katyar Kaljaat Ghusali” was par excellence. He is one of the judges for the ZEE Marathi’s popular reality TV show “Sa RE Ga Ma Pa – Little Champs”.

Rahul takes inspiration from Mehedi Hasan, Ghulam Ali, Mohd Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar to Sonu Nigam and John Denver. He will explore different facets of music in his concert from classical to fusion to other popular genres.
